Subsequent volumes were never published and not surprising given the research and scope of this sole volume which is entirely devoted to plants--fruits, vegetables, herbs and mushrooms--distinctions of varieties, mode of cultivation and the art of preparing them for the table. Harder was a renouned chef for the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. This copy in good condition with considerable soiling and staining to cloth boards and first free endpaper removed.
