Volume I only. Subsequent volumes were never published and not surprising given the research and scope of this sole volume which is entirely devoted to plants--fruits, vegetables, herbs and mushrooms--distinctions of varieties, mode of cultivation and the art of preparing them for the table. Harder was a renouned chef for the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. This copy in good condition with considerable soiling and staining to cloth boards and first free endpaper removed. Prior owner's signature on half-title, otherwise unmarked. 431pp., index, frontispiece, engraving.
